Stay strong

December 25, 2017

This post is specially dedicated to my future self.

Well, hello my previous life this is your future self, speaking. Just to let you know that you hanged your words and it didn't get through the post just because you procrastinated and left it hanging. It was on 21/6 and now is 25/12.

No worries, I still remember (I think so) on the reason why you chose to make this post in the first place. Well done, you are much stronger (hopefully) and little wiser (I guess). But still, stay strong in whatever you do and wherever you are, okay?

Pre final exam post

October 18, 2017

Hey guys assalamualaikum.

I know it's been a long time but yeah I'm back.
I am just a week plus away from my first paper of my last final exam for my undergraduate study (inshaAllah) oh my can you believe that?!
What am I going to do after finishing my degree? Studying has been the only thing that I'll be looking forward after breaks (i.know.just.don't.puke.okay) but this is (might) going to be a looong break and I might not coming back to campus/school after that. It's frightening right?

Right now, I'm still at my favorite place in Old Government Building which it will surely be missed :'( Planning to catch a bus back home at 11:00 ++ pm later because it is freaking cold outside and the city would be so quite at that hour and I don't want to meet any strangers/homeless/creepy people.

Anyway, for those who are reading this, I am humbly asking for your prayers, please.
May Allah ease everything, keep me in smooth pace when writing the answers, calm and remember what I've learned before the exam.

May Allah bless us :)

Assalamualaikum hi sorry I couldn't get to spare some time nak reply your text because I need to prepare for something else.

Worry not, because now I am going to explain and bagi gambaran how to find or to get suitable accommodation in Wellington. (Good senior mode on hahaha perasan)

So, the one yang dalam red square tu is the main campus aka Kelburn campus and dalam purple box tu Business school which is the main campus for accounting students. So macam nice jela kalau dapat duduk dekat aren in between of the two campuses. Jarak jalan kaki from one to another is approximately 20 mins,

Yang garis merah tu is the terrace; main street untuk jalan from kelburn campus and pipitea campus. Most students duduk dekat street ni. Note that from bawah (yang dekat dengan beehive tu dia menaik bukit sampai la ke kelburn campus. Most of the time, kalau sesiapa yang duduk area bawah bawah street tu akan naik bas je pergi main campus. Just bila nak balik jela naik bukit tapi bearable sebab ada short cut naik lift huhuhu.

Yang bentuk star tu uni hall. The green one is Stafford House. 5 mins walk to business school. Rasanya sekarang dalam $210 per month. I'm not really sure about this sebab dengar macam dah naik harga. Tapi electricity tak include and kena masak sendiri. And dapur kecik jela. Not really a proper house tapi kalau just nice untuk orang yang sukakan privacy.

Yang star  biru tu pulak Fairlie Terrace punya uni hall. 25 mins walk to business school. Tapi dekat jela dengan main campus cuma malam malam macam bahaya kalau nak keluar rumah jalan kaki sebab dia macam pedalaman sikit. Rumah yang paling struggle kalau nak balik from pipitea sebab dia bukit kepada bukit. $190 including electricity and internet.

Yang warna coklat tu pulak is my house. 20 mins to pipitea campus and 3 mins to kelburn campus. Like what I've said before, kalau nak pergi class memang turun bukit je so tak ada penat sangat and nak balik tu je lah kena naik bukit tapi sebab nak balik rumah tak ada apa nak kejar sangat so, okay jela lambat-lambat pun.

Other preferences: Lambton Quay (ni nama street tapi memang dekat city), Willis Street, and mana mana tempat yang around that university la.

So, I hope korang dapat la gambaran rumah punya location macam mana.  Mana nak cari rumah? Boleh try dekat trade me or just google jela apa apa perkataan yang macam make sense.

Air free. Electric and internet kira bayar per month. Kalau $30 per month sorang okay la tu. Cuma dia akan jadi mahal sikit la kalau jenis buka heater ke,  Internet around tak sampai $10 or $belas belas.

Serumah suka hati nak duduk berapa orang.

Kalau uni hall time summer memang kena kosongkan rumah so kena pindah barang every hujung tahun and tumpang letak dekat mana mana ke. So, tak payah bayar rumah untuk summer break. Kalau duduk sewa rumah, memang kena bayar walaupun tak duduk sebab kalau tak hmm kena keluar rumah la kot lepas tu tuan rumah cari penyewa baru lepas tu dah tak ada rumah dah. So, kalau tak balik Malaysia cuti summer, susah la kalau duduk uni hall.

Oh and ada jugak yang tanya dah jalan mana setakat ni, Huhuhuhu soalan macam ni tak valid sangat for me because I'm a hardcore traveler, I've been almost satu new zealand with few times visit to some places macam auckland dah 5,6 kali kot. Christchurch dah 3 kali. Don't worry you will have the chances to go to anywhere regardless of where do you study, in sha Allah. Semua tempat ada benda menarik boleh buat. You will have so much fun while studying here in sha Allah.

Q & A

February 27, 2017

So, me being a lazy (yet still trying to be helpful) is going to answer some questions regarding Wellington, a city that already has a place in my heart. cehh. All of the answers are straightly from my based experience and opinions

1. from the allowance that u get, how much can u save?
As a MARA/JPA scholar, we'll get $1449 as Wellington is considered under zone A same like auckland. Kalau chc dia dapat $11++ . For me, alhamdulillah so far I can 'istiqamahly' save $100 per week. But strictly this is from my own life style. I don't really spend and buy outside foods. Plus I've got part time job during the weekend sometimes. But I think without the job itself, I still managed to save even not as much as that amount la kot. It's all depends on your own discipline and how you managed your own allowance. And my rent isnt really expensive which it helps a lot.

Other than that, it also depends on where do you live (rent) because if the rate is higher macam dekat auckland and the electricity during winter tinggi  or you duduk jauh ke so you need more allocation for transportation, so yeah it will be vary.

2. Ramai ke yg buat part time jobs dekat sana?
Ramai gila! In fact, for my batch (perempuan) most of us at least pernah kerja part time. Tapi not that really glamour job la. macam cleaning, ironing, kerja kerja biasa je. Tapi at least dapat tambah saving so why not? (and the rate kalau convert Malaysia in sha Allah boleh dapat more than RM100 one job per week)

3. Ada banyak part time jobs yg available is it selalunya? Sbb i heard canter mcm susah nk cari part time jobs.
Yes, there will always be there, the opportunity. Tinggal nak cari tak nak je. I think Auckland mesti paling banyak sebab dia besar and city kot. I admit macam susah je la nak dapat tapi looking at my friends ( bukan setakat my batchmates) ramaii sangat yang ada part time job tak kisah la kerja apa. Even yang ada 2/3 jobs tu memang ramai. Tinggal nak usaha cari, and willingly nak kerja sungguh-sungguh ke tak.

5. *When's the best time to do internship? *Selalunya org buat bila?
During summer break which is from Nov-Feb. Sebab break lain kejap sangat. Most of the companies require at least 2-3 months for an internship program

6. *Should i start applying now? Tp i baru in my first year degree. Belum second year.
You can check on the companies' websites. Tapi biasanya kalau company malaysia diorang bukak mid year then start internship akhir tahun. Kalau dekat NZ diorang biasa bukak awal tahun sebab diorang recruit awal-awal walaupun kerjanya still akhir tahun. (because they are NZders, they dont do last minute things cehh)

7. Has any seniors in welly done any internship w the big four?
Yes, there are soooo many. Tapi buat dekat Malaysia la sebab senang sangat nak dapat. tak payah interview langsung pun (which I don't see it as a challenging process) But not for Big 4 in NZ. It is so damn hard. yang Kysb cuma dua orang je kot legends yang dapat. Sorang from auckland and one from wellington.

I didn't do any internship because mehh I have other better things to do in Wellington and I dont want to go back to Malaysia.
8. Welly ada tak big 4 events?
Of course. Last year I attended almost every companies. Not only big 4, other big companies in NZ (specifically in Wellington) pun buat events jugak for the students.

9. Do they have the recruitment prog n cv checks?
Yes they do have. Siap buat macam one whole day program with students lagi dekat campus. The Big4 usually will do this kind of program at all big Universitis which I believed Canter also have this kind of thing. From Victoria Uni itself, they also provided services like this. Not only CV checks, Cover letter, resume, assignments check pun ada tapi more to grammar errors, languages, benda2 macam tu la of course la tak betulkan salah point ke tak huhuhu.

Other than these questions, there are so many asked regarding comparison of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Even though I've been to those other places for several times (or could I say, a lot of time?) and I already confident in making any comparison, but thinking of that again.. orang yang jadi 'local' dekat that particular places will know more (read:expert) so, I wouldn't do any justice if I make a comparison post.

Hope this help you!

Sending loves from Summer Wellington hehehe
